Hi, I'm Baskar.

I created Travel Insights by Baskar to share practical travel knowledge, destination experiences, photography and useful tips that help travellers explore the world with confidence.

I'm based in Japan, and Vietnam are the two places this site knows best. Everything here is written to be used on the ground — and where a page still needs my own photos and first-hand notes, it says so instead of pretending otherwise.

How this site works

Editorial standards

Travel content is full of numbers nobody checked and reviews nobody earned. These are the rules this site holds itself to.

No invented figures

No prices, ratings, statistics or personal achievements are published unless they are verified, sourced and dated. Where a number would change with time, you are pointed at the official source instead.
Ratings come from real stays

A hotel gets a rating only after a stay. Anything still on the list to visit is labelled as such, with no score attached.
Work in progress is labelled

Pages awaiting first-hand photos and notes carry a visible “guide in progress” marker. You always know what you are reading.
